ISBL Bridging Module January 2018 C5
Are you receiving the recognition that you deserve?
There are now two routes available to achieve ISBL fellowship: you can demonstrate that you hold a level 6 (graduate level) qualification along with your practice evidence. If this is you then you can apply for fellowship today, click here.
Or you can now undertake a short level 7 bridging module, developed in partnership with the University of Chester that will accredit prior learning and experience. If you wish to accredit your prior learning and experience then NASBM Bridging module is for you.
This online module is delivered by the University of Chester and provides you with the opportunity to reflect on your own role as a school business management professional against the ISBL professional standards and the academic literature that supports senior leadership in schools.
School business management professionals looking to gain ISBL fellowship but who do not currently possess a recognised level 6 qualification.
How will I learn?
Once registered you will have access to a range of resources which include, videos, narrated PowerPoints, journal articles, e-books and online discussion forums. You will also have access to your own dedicated university tutor who will be able to answer any questions that you have, either by email, telephone or via online conferencing, such as Skype.
The materials are structured in such a way as to guide you through the reading and the associated assessment. You are also provided with a framework to support your writing and an outline assignment structure. Your tutor will also be able to provide you with comments on a draft version of your assignment prior to submission.
Successful completion of the module usually takes one academic term, depending on your own commitments, and all successful students receive a University of Chester certificate stating that they have achieved 20 credits at Masters Degree level.
What can I do with these credits?
The credits you will receive as a result of your bridging programme will enable you to apply for ISBL Fellowship, but also you can continue your learning and complete 2 further modules from over 14 to achieve the 40 credits needed for a Postgraduate Certificate in Educational Leadership. Pilot Practitioners comments on the bridging module:
“I was delighted when ISBL informed me that this bridging module would be available. I did not hesitate in agreeing to pilot the scheme
“I had spent time beforehand reading various publications and articles about leadership styles and could relate many of the studies to my work as a school Business Manager. Dr Lambert was extremely supportive and I cannot thank him enough for the advice and help he provided. I was delighted, when I was informed that I had passed and now intend to apply to become a NASBM Fellow.”
Nicky Gillhespy, School Business Manager, Cheam Fields Primary School.

I would just like to reiterate how worthwhile the course was in terms of working on a project that two schools within the Trust could benefit from It’s great that ISBL has devised a course at this level which recognises the achievements of School Business Managers and the level the role requires.
