As well as providing a recognised professional qualification, the programme helps to develop a range of relevant, practical skills that can be applied in your school. The programme enables you to:
- maintain and develop the effectiveness and efficiency in planning, leading and implementing a wide range of projects.
- underpin and develop your knowledge in fundamentals of a range of Project Management styles and suggested situations of when to use them
- substantiate your experience with an accredited, internationally recognised qualification

You can view an example timetable here.
How is the programme delivered?
The programme delivery is via Live Online, which includes live, interactive webinar sessions delivered by our industry expert tutor. All sessions are also recorded to enable you to access them on demand. Additionally, learners are given access to a suite of project management resources to help you on your path to success.
On the programme you will be part of a mixed cohort with learners from a variety of sectors. This enables you to share knowledge, experiences and learn how projects are managed in other sectors.
There are 2 options of how to study the Level 4 APM Project Management Qualification. These are:
- Programme plus exam - Learners will receive eight months access to our Live Online programme as well as being entered to complete their APM PMQ exam. You will also be provided with access to a sample exam paper and a pre-exam briefing webinar to put you in the best position to pass your exam and become a fully qualified project manager. Learners will be able to choose between a paper-based* or online exam.
- Programme Only – Learners have eight months access to our Live Online programme and be provided with all of the support features listed above. Exam entry not included.
*paper-based exam option is currently unavailable due to COVID-19 restrictions.
How is the programme assessed?
The programme is assessed via final examination – this is a 3-hour paper which requires learners to respond to 10 of 16 questions based on the learning outcomes covered across all of the 5 modules.
For programme-only learners, there will be no assessment at the end of the qualification.
Do I need any Project Management experience to complete this programme?
The programme is designed for learners looking to expand their experience and knowledge in managing a wide range of projects as well understanding of various project management styles. As the qualification guides learners through the end-to-end process of managing a project from initial planning to implementation stage, there are no entry requirements for enrolment.
Therefore, for school business professionals who do not have a project management qualification and who are already managing projects in your school, the Level 4 APM Project Management Qualification is an ideal next step.
How is the programme funded?
The programme is either paid for directly by your school/trust or it can be self-funded. It is separate from the apprenticeship scheme and unfortunately is not eligible for apprenticeship funding.
When can I start the programme?
The Level 4 APM Project Management Qualification is an open cohort, allowing learners the opportunity to study alongside peers to share best practice, effective techniques and also build a network of like-minded contacts.
