Schools and colleges will receive a £600 premium for every additional 16-18 year old who takes an advanced maths qualification
The Department for Education have announced that schools and colleges in England will receive a funding boost to help increase the number of 16 to 18 year olds studying advanced maths subjects at post-16 level. The premium is intended to give institutions additional funds to tackle barriers to increasing take-up.
From September 2018, schools and colleges will receive an extra £600 for every extra pupil who takes a one year qualification such as AS Level Maths or Core Maths and £1,200 for every additional pupil taking A level maths or further maths (or a range of other two year qualifications) based on £600 for each of the two years.
