It was great to see so many familiar faces at ISBL’s National Conference in Birmingham recently.
The subject of education budgets, or lack of, continues to dominate, so it’s hardly surprising that schools are increasingly looking outside of cash in order to cater for a constantly evolving set of requirements. This was certainly reflected in the volume of conversations at this years’ event, where schools voiced a desire to explore the breadth of opportunity that funding can offer to make budgets go further and indeed, work harder.
The fact that an Operating Lease offers both flexibility – it can support a wide-reaching range of equipment purposes from classroom and kitchen equipment to astro pitches and IT – and is in line with accounting regulation, means that schools can balance the uncertainty of budgets, with the certainty of monthly outlay, spreading the cost over a manageable term with minimal fuss.
As we look to the year ahead, budgets become increasingly in-focus. Now is an ideal time for schools to evaluate areas of required investment for 2019 and considering options early could be the difference between delaying investment or moving ahead. And I think most will be hoping to achieve the latter.
