BASBM – The Blackpool Association of School Business Managers began life back in 2010 as an opportunity for local networking and to share best practice. The association is open to all academy and school finance and admin staff across Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde.
Having become a member of NASBM in 2008 and benefiting from local and national conferences I decided to take our group to the next level. I approached The National Association of School Business Management – NASBM to became an affiliated local group.
The launch of our first conference in July 2014 was a great success with good attendance and positive feedback for all stakeholders.
Highlights included the presence of Stephen Morales, Executive Director of NASBM who came to support the launch. He spoke to delegates about our profession and the support they can offer.
Dai Durbridge from Browne Jacobson gave an informative talk on the benefits of generate income in these austere times and the benefits of their quick call service.
Helen Fann and Meryl Swain from SAS -Schools Advisory Services demonstrated the benefits and impact of offering employer support in the form of their wellbeing service.
We were also very fortunate to have some top end suppliers to offer services and support to delegates.
Following feedback delegates opted for an annual conference and we intend to hold our next in July 2015 – date to be confirmed.
The association is open to all academy and school finance and admin staff across Blackpool, Wyre and Fylde. Our aim for the conferences is to offer keynote speakers, suppliers and networking opportunities. We welcome and support all delegates to work collaboratively to ensure our schools are successful. The agenda is compiled through delegate suggestions with all contributions considered and valued.
