St Joseph and St Theresa Catholic Primary School is seeking to appoint a Bursar from September 2018.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone highly motivated and skilled to work with us to shape the exciting future of our outstanding school. We are looking for someone with expertise, experience and tenacity to support the Headteacher by leading our office and business functions. As a newly created role there will considerable opportunity for the appointed person to shape their work to meet the School's needs.

Initially the post is being offered at 28hpw, but dependent on additional savings and income generated by the post holder, there may be scope to expand this over time.

The post holder will:

  • Support the Headteacher in overseeing the financial and procurement aspects of the school, including identifying opportunities to generate additional income and achieve savings;
  • Ensure our school is safe and our facilities and services are well maintained and remain fit for purpose;
  • Modernise, improve and streamline our office systems, identifying opportunities to maximise efficiency;
  • Direct, mentor and develop our office staff;
  • Demonstrate flexibility in approach, have highly developed people skills and the ability to act purposefully with pace and urgency;
  • Work with minimal supervision on own initiative while demonstrating appropriate accountability.

Ideally, we are looking for someone who has previous experience in a similar role (whether within or outside education), plus relevant qualifications related to school business functions. Equally as important is someone with the right personal characteristics who is fully supportive of our ethos, values and goals. Full training will be given to the successfully appointed candidate according to their specific needs, and there will be an opportunity to be mentored by colleagues within our Catholic cluster of schools.
