Our COO is retiring, and we are seeking to appoint a proven leader to this key position within the Trust reporting to the Chief Executive Officer. Based at Bishop’s Cleeve, though supporting schools in Gloucester, Cheltenham and South Worcestershire, the COO is the senior leader responsible for the Trust’s corporate and operational support functions. This is a varied and challenging position with significant growth potential.
An exciting opportunity to work with the Executive Leadership Team and the Trust Board, in the development and expansion of the Gloucestershire Learning Alliance (GLA), a successful Multi-Academy Trust (MAT) based around Cheltenham.
The Gloucestershire Learning Alliance is a primary-phase MAT determined to bring outstanding outcomes to all pupils and staff in our trust with a budget of £8.5 million. We are a trust that specialises in school improvement and sponsoring failing schools. We wish to grow to bring our excellent systems and practice to more young people.
We currently have six schools with around 2000 pupils and are actively looking for our seventh school. We have successfully opened a new free school in Gloucester (Longford Park Primary Academy) in 2017 and are the current sponsors of Badsey First School in Evesham. Two of our original three Schools (Bishops Cleeve Primary and Rowanfield Juniors) are National Support Schools and our trust has two National Leaders of Education. Our CEO is also an elected member of the Regional Schools Commissioner’s Head teacher Board for the South West. Our system leaders have a prominent and positive profile regionally and nationally.
Our other schools are Springbank Primary and Rowanfield Infants, both successful schools in challenging areas. We are looking to expand to at least 10 schools and over 3,000 pupils to ensure we have optimum benefits and maximum efficiencies.
As the COO you will be the senior leader responsible for the Trust’s full range of corporate and operational support functions. Reporting to the CEO and acting as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, you will have overall responsibility for the Trust’s business, finance, procurement, personnel, estates and support functions. You will play a key role in developing and implementing the Trust’s strategic goals and ambitious growth plan.
You will be experienced professional with outstanding leadership skills and a track record of transformational success at senior level and will bring an enterprising approach to business development, strategy and partnerships. Experience in the education sector is desirable but not as important as proven entrepreneurial and team leadership skills.
This is a full time, permanent pensionable position with the GLA. Salary will be in the range of £55,000 - £60,000 depending on skills and experience. We are looking for the successful candidate to start on 1st July 2018. However, a September start could be negotiated for the right candidate.
