Role: Business Manager
Salary: From £43,000
Location: Swanage, Dorset
Contract term: Permanent
Contract type: All year round (not just term-time)
Full-time/part-time (see below)
We are seeking a School Business Manager with enthusiasm and ambition to join us in the new year. We are an 11-16 academy with a strong ethos based on human scale education and cooperative learning, where relationships are at the heart of the school.
We are looking for someone with drive, energy and ambition to maintain and develop the full range of support services essential for a successful school within the usual budgetary constraints of state funded schools. Previous experience of working in a school would be desirable but having the right experience and attitude is essential.
The Swanage School has an open recruitment policy and encourages all applicants who can offer strategic business leadership to apply even if you do not fulfil the criteria in all areas. For the right candidate we will consider defining the role flexibly, for example by splitting the position into two part-time roles of Chief Financial Officer and Chief Operations Officer.
The role is to provide the necessary leadership and management of the business aspects of The Swanage School. Working for the Headteacher and Governors, as a member of the Senior Leadership Team, you will be responsible for:
¦ Finance and procurement
¦ Leading the facilities, school administration and reception teams
¦ Human Resources including staff recruitment
¦ Health and Safety
¦ GDPR compliance
¦ Marketing the school and its community facilities
You will be required to work at both an operational and strategic level, need excellent communication and leadership skills and ability to take the initiative and solve problems. For the finance aspect of the role you will need experience of managing finance (preferably in a school environment).
Please see the application pack for the job description and person specification. This is available on our website.
In your application please clearly state whether you are applying for all or part of the role. If part, please state which areas of responsibility you would like to apply for, and your preferred part time ratio.
The interviews for this post will be on Saturday 5 December at the school (or virtually, if necessary due to Covid measures).
Following interview, the successful candidate will begin employment on receipt of satisfactory references, DBS and medical checks. The final role profile and pay will be confirmed in the written job offer.
As an equal opportunities employer we are committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children and young people. We expect all staff to share this commitment. A full DBS CRB check, proof of qualifications and a medical check will be required of successful applicants.
To apply, candidates should submit an official Application Form, which must be completed in full. We regret we cannot accept CVs.
The application form and information pack is available in electronic format and can be downloaded from our website at www.theswanageschool.co.uk/vacancies
