This post offers a unique opportunity for an ambitious applicant to join a growing, newly-established Multi-Academy Trust. At this stage in the Trust’s growth the Director of Finance and Operations Officer will have responsibility for Culverhill and New Siblands School’s financial management.

While focused upon finance the role holder will also have strategic responsibility for HR, Premises and Procurement.

Overall purpose

  1. The overall purpose of this post is to provide professional management and leadership of Financial, HR, Premises and Procurement services for the MAT.
  2. You will be accountable for ensuring the provision of the consolidated financial reporting to enable the Trust to achieve its aims and objectives through the effective and efficient management of its financial resources.
  3. This will include promoting best practice and ensuring compliance with the financial processes and procedures set out in the policies of the MAT and Academies Financial Handbook.
  4. You will have a key role in the management of the MAT and will have effective responsibility for the following:
  • Financial statements
  • Management accounts
  • Financial compliance
  • Budget preparation
  • Financial reporting
  • HR
  • Audit services   
  • Financial systems and processes
  • Supporting advocacy and outreach including financial systems for Enable Trust’s traded outreach services
  • Liaising with and challenging the Local Authority and health commissioners to ensure individual pupils receive entitled funding
  • Other areas of work commensurate with the purpose of the post

 

  1. In addition, the Director of Finance and Operations will oversee the financial management by Local Academy Bodies in each school and work with school business managers and staff within schools responsible for financial matters to prepare and present Trust level reports on the Trust budget and financial position to the Trust board. This will include promoting a culture of continuous improvement within all Finance processes and transactions, to promote shared learning and good practice across Trust schools. This may include providing bespoke training to Trust finance administrators and others.
