Sheffield South East Trust (SSET) seeks a CFO to start in September 2022, or earlier if available. As CFO for our forward looking, successful and thriving Multi Academy Trust, you will be an active participant in the leadership team, developing and implementing the Trust strategic vision.

SSET is a primary school MAT (pupils aged 2 -11 years), established in 2016.  SSET now consists of 6 primary schools, all with nursery provision. There is a good track record of successful school improvement, with all the schools inspected since conversion receiving ‘Good’ OFSTED judgements. The Trust is currently developing 2 specialist Integrated Resource Units for pupils with SEND.

SSET serves diverse and socially economically disadvantaged communities within Sheffield. The schools work collaboratively with high levels of mutual support. This role is a critical appointment as the Trust grows and we continue to expand operations.

About the Role

We are seeking to appoint a Chief Financial Officer who has significant experience of financial management and accountancy, ideally with business experience in education. Support to achieve accountancy qualifications may be provided for the right candidate. Motivated and with proven experience, the CFO will report directly to the Chief Executive Officer and will be responsible for all aspects of the Trust’s finances. The successful candidate will be expected to make a direct contribution to defining key priorities that will shape the future of the Trust, providing strategic level advice to the Board and producing high quality information and reports.

Responsibilities will also include; working with the CEO, schools and Trustees to agree robust budgets, monitoring these through the production of high quality monthly management accounts, leading and supporting key projects and ensuring financial records meet compliance standards. Line management of finance staff and matrix management of business staff will be an expectation of the role.

The CFO will need to have outstanding financial leadership skills and be able to work in a positive and proactive way at all levels of our Trust.
