This is a strategically significant post and the successful candidate will display effective, competent financial management skills and knowledge to support the best outcomes for students in the School. This role is central to realising the long term plans for the School.
Drumbeat is a state of the art special school for children with Autism from 4 to 19. Drumbeat is more than a school, it is a hub for Autism support for Lewisham. It takes a leading role in the provision of outreach support for children (and their families) in mainstream schools and Early Years Centres.
The school is committed to being a Centre of Excellence. The vision for Drumbeat is for its staff to work in trans-disciplinary ways – professionals working together seamlessly to meet the needs of the child or young person, putting the child and family at the centre.
The School Business Director holds a key post of responsibility within the school. The post links directly into the Senior Leadership Team, and there is an expectation that the SBD will contribute fully to SLT meetings, advising staff and governors on key matters of financial, personnel and administrative policy and requirements. As a member of the Senior Leadership Team you will to be responsible for the effective and efficient management of all non-academic related aspects of the schools’ operations, in support of the agreed aims and objectives of Drumbeat School and ASD Service. To include strategic leadership of all aspects of Financial Management, Human Resource Management, Premises and Estate Management (Including PFI at Downham), Whole Schools’ Administration, ICT Management, Marketing and Community & Public Relations. This strategic leadership role relates to both Drumbeat sites in Downham and Brockley, as well as Drumbeat Extended Services and Drumbeat Outreach.
The ideal candidate will be an individual of proven senior leadership ability, a strategic thinker and able to work with the Executive Headteacher, Leadership Team and Governors to turn vision into reality. Financial literacy and robust commercial judgement will be essential, as will outstanding relationship-building and communication skills. They will be flexible, organised and resilient, with a collegiate and collaborative approach.
In your statement of suitability please refer to the JD providing clear examples from your work history. Please also explain what you envisage your key priorities would be in the first year, and your strengths and any areas for development.
The successful candidate will be subject to an enhanced DBS Disclosure and a Debarring check.
Drumbeat is an equal opportunities employer. If you have lived or worked abroad for more than three months since you were 18 you will need to apply to the country where you lived for a police check. We will help you do this but you will need to pay any costs.
